The Best Revenge Songs
Sparkler RunningFromLions is angry—and is taking it out on vintage vinyl. —SparkNotes editors
Is it just me, or have there been an insane amount of dating posts on SparkNotes recently?
For those of us with relationship dramas that couldn't be solved by knowledgeable SparkNotes writers, I propose revenge. Musical revenge, of course, because any other revenge-like activity I can think up would likely get me arrested. (Which would mean I wouldn't have to take the APUSH exam. On second thought...)
Here's a revenge playlist I put together that's just begging to be played on repeat in your room, then sent to your horrible ex or former BFF:
1. "Selfish" by This Providence
This song is great for getting over those lovesick blues. It deludes me into thinking that problems in a relationship aren't my fault. If only this were true, alas.
2. "Liar Liar" by Never Shout Never
Except for the excessive use of the word "heart" as nouns/adjectives/verbs, this one's a winner. Just grab a guitar and sing your heart out. Or just pretend, if you can't play the guitar. You'll feel all good and fuzzy either way. My favorite part? "I'll break your heart, in just three minutes now / Look who won." Ha!
3. "Best Friends for Never" by Dropout Year
Yes, this is exactly what I needed! I don't care if you're never able to call me back because your grandmother's uncle's niece's goldfish swallowed your phone. At this rate, we really are BFFN.
4. "Don't Speak Liar" by We The Kings
Okay, we know that not all members of the opposite sex are lying, inconsiderate jerks who have breaking hearts down to a science. But those who are should really listen to this.
5. "See You In My Nightmares" by Kanye West
Confession time: I have never listened to this song until now. Why, you ask? Because it's by Kanye West, and I'm not a fan. However, this song does sound extremely ominous, which is perfect for an angst-y breakup. If only All Time Low would return my calls and remake this into a Punk Goes Crunk remix. **Sighs**
I am not normally a pile of teen angst, but sometimes it just feels good to let my frustration out. Enjoy!
What song would you like to send to your ex this Valentine's Day?
