Pants on the Ground...In Space

By kat_rosenfield

Unless you live under a rock (and even then, it would have to be a really, really big rock) you've heard about Pants on the Ground, the original song by 62 year-old American Idol hopeful Larry Platt, which quickly became January's biggest viral video hit. Over the past few weeks, Pants on the Ground has been professionally remixed, received coverage in major media outlets, and even made a cameo in the locker room of the Minnesota Vikings after their win over the Cowboys earlier this month. (Although considering that neither the song's creator nor the Vikings ended up advancing to the final round of their respective competitions, we don't recommend using it in place of your usual go-fight-win cheers.)

Of course, as we move into February, Pants on the Ground will meet the fate of every other viral phenomenon, fading from the public consciousness and eventually being replaced by the next big thing. But just because you're not seeing it on YouTube anymore, that doesn't mean it's gone! In fact, once a viral hit disappears from its place of origin, it goes rogue, cropping up in hundreds of unlikely places and eventually leaving the planet completely as it follows the Viral Timeline of Doom. So, what's in store for Pants on the Ground?

Glad you asked.
