Oh, Was that YOUR Boyfriend?

Oh, Was that YOUR Boyfriend?

By Kia Wood

How many times has this happened to you: you meet someone, and you really hit it off. We’re talking flying sparks, angels singing, birds tweeting… you can almost feel Cupid taking aim with his bow and arrow. On the outside you’re keeping it cool, but on the inside inside you’re doing backflips, because you have just met someone who might be a great match for you.

Then he/she drops the bomb—there's a girlfriend/boyfriend in the picture. You are devastated. There you were, well on your way to planning your first three dates, only to find out that your crush is taken.

Or is he? As some old timers say, "Unless there’s a ring on their finger, everyone is single." If advice from old people isn’t your thing, just ask Natalie Portman, Miley Cyrus, or (odd but true) even Jimmy Kimmel. All these celebs are rumored to have swept their current love out from under someone else’s feet.

As the saying goes, "All’s fair in love and war," which we guess is true (if cliched). But we’d also like to remind you of another well-known saying—"Karma is a b*tch." Perhaps if the relationship isn’t that serious (or if you’ve got that crush-crazy friend who’s “claimed” someone he's never even talked to) snagging someone else’s love interest isn’t that big of a deal. But if your romantic pursuits are ruining an otherwise happy home(room), you might want to watch out for karma.

So our controversial question of the week is this: Is it okay to steal someone else's boyfriend/girlfriend?

Bonus questions: Have you ever stolen someone's boyfriend/girlfriend? Have you ever had a boyfriend/girlfriend stolen from you?
