Today we run the gamut on SparkLife from the political to the pop cultural, partly thanks to dumbledore12 (or, as we often accidentally type, "bumbledore12"), who wrote this post! —SparkNotes editors
Don’t you get tired of the old gossip about who’s going out with whom? (Yes! I just used "whom" correctly in a sentence! One New Year’s resolution down—wait, that was my only resolution.) Well, here is some pop culture nonsense you might actually enjoy debating with your friends!
1) If Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift had gotten married, they would BOTH have been named Taylor Lautner. Scary, or awesome?
2) Is Uranus pronounced "your-anus" or "you’re-a-nuss"? (Side note: Never tell the nerdy, annoying guy who pronounces it "your-anus" that Uranus is a gas planet. Just don’t. Anyone who does is a total nuss. As in "you’re-a-nuss.")
3) Which is better: Guitar Hero or Rock Band? Easy answer: Band Hero. But it’ll still be a lively debate to lighten up even the most boring Social Studies lectures. (Which are the worst kinds.)
4) I bet Billy Mays went to hell for injuring the general public’s ears. I bet he did. Yeah, he so did.
5) Harry Potter vs. Twilight. Enough said.
6.) How many people in your class actually know about SparkNotes? (One downside, the person you are debating with might not know what SparkNotes is, either.)
7) Is Keyboard Cat really playing the piano?
8) Can anyone on Earth listen to “Replay” by Iyaz or “Don’t Stop Believing” by the Glee cast without jumping up and dancing? I can’t.
9) Battle of the Cameras: Film or Digital? Boring, right? WRONG!
10) Should Barney be allowed to be broadcast on national television? Big purple and green dinosaurs can scare small children.
11) Does Ellen DeGeneres know anything about music? If not, how did she become a guest judge on American Idol?
12) Why did Nick Jonas get his own band?
13) How can you get your school’s football team to dance to "Single Ladies" like in Glee?
14) Should "Gleek" be in the dictionary? (It so should.)
15) Do brick cell phones exist anymore? You know, the ones that are, like, bigger than bricks?
16) Should Bakugans even be allowed to exist?
17) The switch for the garborator/the thing in your sink that chews stuff up should not look like a light switch, right?
18) What if yellow snow was lemonade?
19) Which is better: Monopoly or Monopoly Junior? Duh, Monopoly Junior! Wouldn’t you rather own rides at an amusement park than property on Whatever Street?
20) Should Edward have his shirt on all through the movies? Yes. Yes, he should. Please, please, please leave the shirtless parts to Jacob. Please.
