50 Wonderful Things: Sparkler School Edition

You may remember Sparkler yasna18 from her recent Dan-inspired post, 50 Things That Should Not Exist: Sparkler School Edition. Like Dan, yasna18 can't end on a negative note, so here's her list of school-related Wonderful Things. —SparkNotes editors

A philosopher once said, “Where there is bad with which we would rather not associate ourselves, there also resides gargantuan good, a by-product of hate and misdemeanor.” To counter the negativity presented in the last article, I have created a list of 50 wonderful things about school. Let these lovable items stand as the light against the dark, the yang against the yin, the Harry against the Voldy:

1.  The last minute of 7th period.

2.  Block period Photo/Art

3.  1st period Photo/Art

4.   A close circle of friends.

5.   Getting a compliment on your outfit.

6.   A genuinely interesting history lesson.

7.   Teachers who hand out extra credit like candy.

8.  Teachers who hand out candy.

9.  Teachers who let us out a few minutes early.

10.  A laid-back P.E. class.

11.  An excuse from P.E. class.

12.  Football games.

13.  Class pranksters.

14.  Hilarious pranks that don’t affect you.

15.  Friendly upperclassmen.

16.  Sitting next to a cute guy/girl in English.

17.  Chatting merrily with said cute guy/girl.

18.  Landing in detention with aforementioned cute guy/girl.

19.  Minimal homework for science.

20.  No homework for math.

21.  Getting to check your homework in class and correct wrong answers.

22.  Crazy experiments in Bio.

23.  The buttery cookies from the cafeteria.

24.  Acing a math pop quiz.

25.  Acing any major test.

26.  Having a strategically situated locker.

27.  Having a humongous locker.

28.  Texting in the back of the class.

29.  Enhancing your fingers’ finesse by way of said texting. (Piano just keeps getting easier!)

30.  Prep periods.

31.  Calling someone who you know is taking a test at that moment, during your own prep time, and laughing when she screams about her phone going off in the middle of a test.

32.  Smart people who help you with your homework.

33.  Expanding your social circles.

34.  Getting asked out by someone you like.

35.  Unorthodox teachers.

36.  Inspirational teachers.

37.  Open campus (walk in and out of school whenever it tickles your fancy).

38.  Early dismissal days.

39.  Air-conditioned classrooms.

40.  Comfy chairs and desks.

41.  Interesting graffiti in textbooks.

42.  The thrill of Fridays.

43.  The joy of finishing finals.

44.  Learning how to swear in a foreign language.

45.  The relaxation of lunch break.

46.  The relief felt after finishing an English essay.

47.  Learning (slowly) to be comfortable about who you are.

48.  Learning (very slowly) how to get along with annoying people.

49.  Open-minded classmates/teachers who don’t judge.

50.  The sheer glee of being educated.

Hey, who knew? Maybe school isn’t that bad after all.
