Sparkler camip0p may live in Florida, but she certainly knows all about fall (and great music!). Hope you like her playlist as much as we do! —SparkNotes editors
Fall is all about pumpkin pie, comfy sweaters, touches of nostalgia, and changing leaves. (Unless you live in Florida, and the leaves have a better chance of sprouting hair than turning orange, but whatever, Florida, be tropical. Ruin my fun.) Perfect fall music is music that's bittersweet, like jumping into a pile of dead leaves. The following is my fall music playlist:
1. "Junebug" by Robert Francis
If you have an addiction to iTunes free singles, chances are you own this song. It's perfect for a day that's all crisp and autumn-y.
2. "Fondu au Noir" by Coeur de Pirate
How could you not love a girl whose stage name means Pirate Heart in French? This song is 100 percent French, so if you hate not knowing what people are singing about, learn the language. Seriously, it's that good a song. It's got cute vocals and haunting piano bits that say "autumn" in all languages.
3. "Time is All Around" by Regina Spektor
"Time is all around...except inside my clock!" With Regina Spektor's signature absurd lyrics and some awesome guitar, piano, and violin bits, this song is a lot more upbeat than others on this list.
4. "Trouble is a Friend" by Lenka
Lenka's song has cute Australian vocals (and a personified noun!). Just imagine the titular Trouble as one of the Wild Things.
5. "Trust Me" by The Fray
This song by The Fray is one of my favorites, even though it's old. The lyrics are sweet ("We're only taking turns holding this world/It's how it's always been..."), and I love The Fray's sound in this song.
6. "Company Calls" by Death Cab for Cutie
Death Cab for Cutie = more touching lyrics and soft-rockiness. (P.S. I know you already know this song. I'm so 2000 and late.)
7. "Suffering" by Hecuba
I don't even know how to describe this song properly. There's a whole bit that is only people's names, though. ("Jimmy and Jackie and Jamie...") That's always good.
8. "Please Don't Touch" (Golden Filter Remix) by Polly Scattergood
Chilly vocals and lyrics like, "Can't walk in a straight line, my path is always gritty!" What's more to love? Also, it's six minutes long, so it's only costing you like 17 cents a minute. You can't even make a public phone call for that little. But who makes public phone calls anyway?
So that's it! Listen and love, and do me a favor? Find a way to get me a real autumn down here in Florida. I'll be waiting by the beach.
