The Friday Awards

Speaking of awards, today (Oct. 30) is the last day to vote for your favorite short student book trailer for the 2009 Kirkus Video Book Awards. The first place winner will be announced Nov. 10 and will feel really awesome.

...And speaking of Halloween (...ermmm, just go with it) we'd like to take this weekly award ceremony/message from your editors opportunity to share our Halloween costumes! Here's the rundown:

Miss Marm is going as Lady Gaga.

Auntie SparkNotes and her SO are going as Ilsa and Rick from Casablanca.

Ramsey, our Scarlet Letter blogger, is going as a semicolon. He says: "I'm going to wear all white and I'll cut the shapes out of black poster board. My face will be in the middle of the dot and bottom part will be attached at my waist."

Dan Bergstein is going as Dan Bergstein, and he's not happy about it.

Joe Lynch is going as Andy Warhol.

Kathryn Williams is going to be a bridesmaid...except she's actually in a wedding tomorrow, so it's not really a costume. She says, "Last year I was a 'tease' and wore a headband with mistletoe and a chastity belt with a big lock." LOL.

And I'm going as gum stuck under a shoe. (Pink sweatsuit, pink wig with old shoe superglued to it. Easy and warm!)

I don't even have a belly button. I don't know why I'm admitting this right here , but the title made me think about it. I got a hernia removed when I was little and now all I have is a scar where my belly button should be. My Geography class used to call me Kyle XY.
