Halloween: Ghoulish or Foolish?

Halloween is Saturday! We think it's time to decide once and for all—is Halloween OMGFantastic...or not? Sparkler BellaSwan1 helps us make a decision. —SparkNotes editors

Some people love Halloween. Others…not so much. Since it’s that time of year, I've listed some pros and cons of Halloween. After reading this, you decide: Is Halloween awesome and ghoulish, or boring and foolish?

Costumes
Pro: No one can identify you under that costume and all that makeup. Mwahaha!
Con: Many people don't dress up.

Decorations
Pro: They are fun to look at, especially those blinking lights!
Con: Decorating is usually tedious, and putting the decorations back in the boxes is even worse.

Trick-or-Treating
Pro: You get to hang out with your friends, and you have a good excuse to walk around your neighborhood late at night collecting candy from strangers.
Con: You have to wear a costume. On top of that, some people may ask you to perform a trick, sing a song, or tell a joke because of what you're wearing. If they ask you to do that, go ahead and do your humiliating tricks. But if you don't know what to say, simply reply, “Bye!” and run quickly in the other direction.

Halloween Parties
Pro: They can be fun, and be a good alternative to trick-or-treating.
Con: Parties can also be dull, especially if you do not know anyone and you feel pressured to have a good time because it's a holiday.

Candy
Pro: Who doesn’t like candy? Candy is the best part of Halloween for most people.
Con: Candy can cause toothaches, cavities, and anger in your parents if they have to fork over lots of cash for the dentist.
