15 Fantastic Things about Fall

15 Fantastic Things about Fall

1. Drool Angels (just go with it.)

2. Decorative seasonal gourds—really, who doesn’t just LOVE these?

3. The unbearable prevalence of the color orange. And by unbearable, we of course mean, “totally un-annoying and potentially really spectacular, if you are color-blind.”
4. Chubby toddlers dressed as pumpkins. Chubby toddlers dressed as anything.

5. Hijacking a parade, Ferris-Bueller-style, and doing this.

6. Pumpkin pie. Apple pie. Puddin’ Pie. Dirt Pie with Worms. Leftover Halloween Candy That You May or May Not Have Stolen From Your Little Brother Pie. (Added bonus: all of these can double as terms of endearment for that special someone).

7. The World Series. And for those of you who aren’t fans of baseball, go jump in a freezing lake. Just kidding. Baseball is for dweebs.

8. Blankets, Slankets, Snuggies, and Blank-o-Copters, a hybrid blanket and helicopter invented by yours truly. Patent pending. These puppies should be available for wholesale just in time for the holidays.

9. Humungous bowls of candy with little signs that say “Please Take ONE.” Who do these people think they’re dealing with, charity-seeking amateurs? WRONG.

10. Caramel-covered apples. They'll rip the braces right off your teeth. Yum.

11. Corn mazes: a masterful mix of terrifying, dull, and corn. Bring the kids.

12. Doing a Superman leap into the giant pile of leaves your next-door neighbor has spent all afternoon raking, and running away, screaming in terror, when said neighbor comes after you with a hose and a shotgun.

13. Haunted houses: smog machines, paralyzing fear, and functioning chainsaws wielded by underpaid, angst-ridden 11-year-olds? SIGN ME UP.

14. The serene and stunning beauty of nature as it transitions from summer to autumn. (Can I get a “what, what”?)

15. And best of all: abundant opportunities to try out seasonally-relevant phrases like: “Hey, buddy, why don’t you just go carve a pumpkin?!? Jackass.” or “Dude, you look like you just got hit by a ton of autumnal-colored falling foliage. That’s gonna sting in the morning.”
