Sparkler bond_chick001 is annoyed. REALLY annoyed. —SparkNotes Editors
I’m learning from experience that not all people are nice or easy to be around. In fact, some have habits that just totally get on my last nerve. Here's a partial list of things that drive me crazy:
1. When little kids do something icky, like eat their hair or pick their noses.
Really now. I understand that young kids don’t know better when they’re three or four. But when they’re in third grade, isn’t that kinda pushing it? And must they eat their mucus right in front of me while I’m eating? Are they all out to make me puke? Well, whatever the reason, it annoys me and it’s gross and unsanitary.
2. When people ask you the time, and they have a watch.
This happened to me while I waiting for a train. I had to bite my tongue to keep from yelling, “You have a watch!!! Why don’t you tell me?” Instead, I searched through the compartments of my backpack, pulled out my cell phone, and missed a train just to tell this guy the time. Then after he was like, “Oh, well that’s the same time as my watch.” I really wanted to scream at him. My train came, saving me from any dramatic outbursts. But it was still annoying.
3. When people make jokes about your height.
Like really. Hello? I’m about four foot, nine inches, and I HATE short jokes. It annoys me because, weren’t we all once short? Some people were just lucky to have a growth spurt. I really hate being short, especially since I’m always being made fun of.
4. People who sing and dance through the hallways.
I confess. I’m sometimes one of these people. It’s just so, so, fun. Especially when someone’s singing off tune, or the same line over, and over, and over again. But it's very annoying when you’re cramming for a huge math exam. Trust me, very, very annoying.
5. People who talk way too much about themselves.
Yes, I‘m very happy that your dad is giving you a ninety dollar allowance. No, I don’t want a piece of that special chocolate you've been talking about for 15 minutes. Do you not care that my right arm is in a cast?
6. When somebody asks you if you’re okay when you are noticeably hurt.
Okay. This one's kinda deep. If somebody is lying on the ground, screaming, and can’t move, would you ask them if they’re okay because you're a) concerned or b) truly mystified? I hope you chose a). My ankle once seized up, and I fell. Three guys asked me if I was okay. I wanted to yell, “Yes, I’m fine. This is how I bake brownies!” Obviously, I was NOT okay. (In case you’re wondering, I'm fine now. It was on overuse injury, apparently.)
