People who know me call me a shopaholic, and there's a reason for that. I yearn for new clothes, and when clearance season comes around, my head spins in excitement. Here is a list of 7 things I cannot live without in the fall.
1. Flowery, voluminous skirts.
These girly skirts can amp up any outfit. Their poofiness brings back memories of my childhood, when I danced around in my flouncy skirt as if I were a princess. In fact, I still do that if no one is watching. (Shh, don’t tell anyone!) I love to pair these skirts with a plain tee for a sophisticated yet fun look.
2. Anything neon.
Bright clothing started popping up in late spring and is still in full swing in the fall. My favorite hues right now are aqua, coral/salmon, and orange. It is the perfect way to make an outfit stand out in a crowd of black and blue. I usually wear a bright tank top underneath a plain T-shirt for a playful look.
3. Bags.
This obsession sprung up after I got a gorgeous bag for only $20! After all, a girl can never have too much bags. Last year, I nixed the ubiquitous Jansport backpacks and now use a tote to carry my books. I’m also excited about those tough studded bags that happen to be in season right now.
4. Black tights.
Essential for fall! With cooler weather coming, you're probably getting ready to put shorts and summer dresses in storage until next summer. But don't get out your boxes just yet. With handy dandy tights, you can wear your summer clothes and cover up!
5. Necklaces.
Believe it or not, I was never into jewelry until junior year. I saw it as a waste of time. Now, I realize necklaces are the perfect way to spice up a plain top. My favorite types are: single pendant charm necklaces that are simply sweet, oversize necklaces that make a huge statement, brown wooden necklaces that give an outfit a more boho and eclectic vibe, and the classic and iconic pearl necklace. I love to wear a rustic-looking necklace with my more dressy tops to give them a less formal feel.
6. Scarves.
With necklaces come scarves. I still have not gotten enough of these pretty yet versatile pieces! There are scarves suited for every occasion and temperature. As far as bold scarves go, I love prints in plaid (preferably in a bold color), houndstooth, and prints with graphics.
7. Gummy worms.
No one said fall fashion was restricted to clothes! These neon crawlers come in classic color pairings we have learned to love: blue and red, green and yellow, orange and green, and red and yellow. (Have I missed any?) I used to keep these as pets when I was small, but my temptation to suck out their blood got the better of me. I also use them as a sugar boost in between my classes. What better way to wake up at the end of first period?
