Band of the Week: The Drums

The Drums are quite new—they played their first show in May of this year—and already the Brooklyn foursome is hyped to the heavens. New York's "coolest" borough sure does seem to produce these press darlings monthly, and 11 times out of 12 it's much ado about very little. Thus, it is with relief that we report that The Drums mostly live up to hyperbolic tags like "explosive" (New York Press) and "contagiously energetic" (New Musical Express).

The band mixes a 1980s new wave sound with 1960s surf guitar pop. Naturally, we found them hard to resist when it came time to push one last band seemingly made for the season.

Heck, their debut EP is called Summertime! We had to pick 'em.
