Earlier this month, we posted a handy quiz to help you figure out whether you’ve had an adequate amount of fun this summer. Many of you passed with flying colors, some of you made the cut exclusively through the consumption of meats on sticks, and a few of you pointed out (and rightly so) that you failed only because we’d left off some pretty important Elements of Awesomeness. (But really, if your summer included international travel, we’re pretty sure you don’t need us to tell you whether it rules. Yeesh. Have some confidence!)
But for those of you who came away feeling that something was missing, and want to finish off your break with the most ultra-summer activity known to mankind, we’re here to tell you:
Now is the time to make s’mores!
S’mores, the most epic of all summer bonfire foods, are as essential a warm-weather staple as waterslides, county fairs, and competing with your friends to see who can peel the biggest contiguous piece of skin off their sunburnt back. The chocolate… the marshmallow… the graham cracker… well, what can we say? There’s nothing so wonderful as a s’more. And so today, we’ve found this great instructional video that’ll show you just how to make ‘em! Ready? Watch!
Uhhh… okay, my bad. That was definitely not instructional. Unless you needed some instruction in having nightmares for the rest of your life, in which case, you should be all set.
And if you still want to know how to make s’mores (seriously? you don’t know how?), here’s the deal:
You need: Graham crackers, chocolate bars (milk or dark), and marshmallows.
You can add: Peanut butter, if you’re a maniac like that.
Then:
1. Take one graham cracker.
2. Break off a piece of chocolate and place it on top of the graham cracker.
3. Toast a marshmallow to the desired doneness. (If the marshmallow starts to scream, get a new bag of marshmallows.)
4. Put the toasted marshmallow on top of the chocolate/graham cracker stack.
5. Place another graham cracker on top of the marshmallow to make a sandwich.
5a. If you’re a maniac, you can put peanut butter on this graham cracker before you complete the sandwich.
6. Eat.
