Additional Changes We'd Like to See to the Site

By Kathryn_Williams

You may have noticed some changes around here recently. You know, tiny little things like a complete redesign of the entire site that has prompted Sparklers to rant, rave, and do some serious soul searching about the advantages and disadvantages of change and your trust in the time-space continuum.

This contributor, who generally deals with change with a dignified tantrum, is taking baby steps toward embracing the new design. She must have been in the bathroom when the SparkNotes CEO called for her personal opinion, so she'll offer it now. Lovin' the new colors, lovin' the accessibility of posts, but I do have a few suggestions. SparkLife, for your consideration:

  • Just give Dan Bergstein his own blog already. This guy's hilarious.
  • While you're at it, take Blogging Twilight/New Moon posts out of the running for "Most Commented." It's totally screwing the grading curve.
  • Two words: Scratch n' Sniff. (I guess that's two and a half words.) This technology may still be in Research & Development, but you should invest heavily. It would make posts like this one and this one a heck of a lot cooler.
  • A SparkLife-sponsored blog off between Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling. Stephen King can referee as a guest editor.
  • A Japanese mascot.
  • More puppies, kittens, and guilty hamsters. You can never have too many guilty hamsters.
  • A soundtrack. Seriously, let's get some music up in here.
  • Chris Listens via webcam and ear horn.
  • Horoscopes.
  • Automatic translation of posts according to what part of the world you live in. For example, if you live in Britain, "make out" would automatically be translated into "snog," "sunglasses" would become "sunnyglegs," and "freshman" would become... ok, we're still kind of confused on this. Can you explain again?
  • An Auntie SparkNotes hologram.

Do you have any ideas for the SparkLife site? Are you baby stepping toward loving the new design?
