In Love? What's Your Song?

In Love? What's Your Song?

By Contributor

Every couple has a song. Well, at least they do in the movies. In this post, Sparkler raj101 recommends some good songs for your own special, romantic lullaby. Enjoy! —SparkNotes Editors

Ah, yes...love. Picnics in the park, lying on the beach, sharing sundaes at the ice cream parlor. You may think you've got this whole "being in love" thing down, but you're not there until you've figured out your song. And by "your," I mean the tune you and your significant other most like chilling to during these warm summer days.

Sure, you could always just claim Michael Buble's "Everything" as your song, but that wouldn't be very original, now would it? Here are a few potential love songs for you and your other half, all of them sweet, but none overdone.

1. "Sleepwalking" by Modest Mouse

Warm and old-fashioned sounding, it's the perfect song for slow dancing.

2. "Oh, It Is Love" by Hellogoodbye

A bit more upbeat, this song has a contagious, carefree sound that's bound to make you smile.

3. "First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes

For those of you who know this song, you've probably already labeled it as one of the loveliest songs on the planet, and it is.

4. "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie

The title really says it all. Would you follow your man/woman anywhere?

5. "A Snowflake Fell (And it Felt Like a Kiss)" by Glasvegas

Light and gentle, it's Glasvegas at its best.

6. "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel

The song really describes love itself, right from the beginning: "What a beautiful dream that could flash on the screen in a blink of an eye and be gone from me, soft and sweet..."

7.  "Together" by The Raconteurs

Most people probably don't think "love song" when they think of the Raconteurs, and granted, this isn't your typical love song, but it's more affectionate than one might expect.

And last, but not least:

8. "Broken Hearted Hoover Fixer Sucker Guy" by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova

OK, OK, so it's not really a "love song" per se, but you won't regret downloading it, trust me. :)
