After years of Quidditch play, evil wizard chasing, and coming of age at Hogwarts, Harry and the gang are all grown up. After the seventh and final book was published, author J.K. Rowling revealed details of the group’s future on her website. According to Rowling, Harry becomes Head of the Ministry of Magic, and he and Ginny Weasley start their own magical family. Ron and Hermione also join the Ministry, but Hermione later transfers to the Department of Magical Law. These sound like great futures, but wait, didn’t we miss a step? What about life right after Hogwarts? Here’s our best guess about the Hogwarts trio’s college years:
- Hermione pledges Pi Beta Phi to make some Muggle friends. When she cancels the limo for the Spring Ball and rents a stretch broom instead, her sorority sisters protest, and she returns her pledge pin and joins the college bowling team instead.
- Professor Snape becomes head of the University’s Science department and bans the dissection of frogs, as his cousin Malto was recently turned into one. He lands on the cover of Time magazine for creating a crystal ball that can predict the American Idol winners and wins the Nobel Prize for chemistry for creating a natural fat-blocking drug that tastes like s’mores.
- Harry’s reputation precedes him and makes him a hit with the ladies, magical and Muggle alike. He briefly toys with playing football but decides to stick with the sport he loves and becomes Mr. August in the college’s Men of Quidditch calendar.
- Harry and Ron decide to room together. They have to call a truce on prank spells after a girl Ron is trying to impress is mortified by the Macarena he performs while under a Tarantallegra dancing spell.
- When the Weasleys come to visit Ron for a weekend, Ginny is annoyed to see a beautiful Swedish exchange student named Ilsa flirting with Harry. At the end of the weekend, Ilsa is nowhere to be found and the football team has a mysterious new Billy Goat mascot.
Hey Sparklers, what do you think life after Hogwarts holds for Harry and the gang?
