Summer Activity Series: Slip Slidin' Away

Summer Activity Series: Slip Slidin' Away

Remember when grass burn was cool? Yeah, so do we. 'Cause it was yesterday. Which is why we present, for this week's edition of Summer Activity Series:

Making Your Own Slip 'n Slide

Step 1: Locate a long, clear, gently sloping (downward, smarty pants) runway. Try to avoid large objects like trees, houses, cars, airplanes, elephants, oxen, electricity pylons, and penguins. The softer the surface, the better. (Grass: good. Concrete: bad.) Remove any sharp sticks or rocks in the way.

Step 2: Duct tape two to ten smooth, plastic waterproof tarps together at their short ends.

Step 3: Lay tarps on the runway with the duct tape seams facing the ground, and any overlap facing downhill.

Step 4 (optional): Place a soft plastic inflatable kiddie pool filled with water or Jello (see next week's edition of SAS) at the end of the last tarp.

Step 5: Squirt a bottle of dish soap from beginning to end of the tarp runway.

Step 6: Hose down the tarps with water.

Step 7: Cue "Chariots of Fire."

Step 8: Holding a soft inflatable inner tube or pool floatie, run at full speed from 30 feet (9.144 meters) away to the beginning of tarp. Flop and ride the wave.

Step 9: Cry like a little girl.

If you do try this at home, just don't tell your parents where you got the idea. K? Thx.
