Fly Me to the Moon, Snoop

Fly Me to the Moon, Snoop

Forty years ago this month, Buzz Aldrin was among the astronauts who landed on the moon. To commemorate that amazing event, Aldrin has released a hip-hop track. Yup, that's right: "Rocket Experience" features the musical/rap stylings of none other than Buzz Aldrin himself (Snoop Dogg, Soulja Boy, Talib Qweli and Quincy Jones helped produce the track).

While "Rocket Experience" is more novelty than bust-a-move, dance party single, it got us thinking that odd pairings can result in entertaining music (or at least some really weird videos).  Here's our recipe for music mash-ups of the Aldrin/Snoop variety:

Step One
Find someone who's at least your parents' age and famous for anything other than making music. He or she could be an actor, a chef, an athlete, or simply famous for being famous.  We'll start you off with our ten picks:

  • Donald Trump (famous for crazy hair, doing something with real estate, and making you cringe)
  • Brett Favre (famous for throwing a football)
  • Tina Fey (famous for being awesome)
  • Robert Downey Jr. (famous for bottoming out and coming back)
  • David Letterman (famous for joking with people)
  • Regis Philbin (famous for shouting)
  • Al Pacino (famous for playing Al Pacino)
  • Martina Navratilova (famous for hitting a ball)
  • Eddie Murphy (famous for blowing his career to hang out with a trannie hooker)
  • Martha Stewart (famous for going from your mom's living room to jail)

Step Two
Find a rap, R&B, hip-hop or pop music star who might have a good sense of humor and would be willing to team up and create a song just for a good laugh.  Our top picks:

  • Beyoncé
  • Christina Aguilera
  • Justin Timberlake
  • Usher
  • Ciara
  • Lil' Wayne
  • Ne-Yo
  • Missy Elliott
  • Lady GaGa
  • Miley Cyrus

Step Three:
Mix 'n' match! It's really that easy. Choose someone from Step One and someone from Step Two and you're ready for Grammy (or YouTube) Gold! And all you have to do is convince both parties to work together. Let us know how that turns out.

So who would you want to see join forces and create a new single? Pick from our lists or suggest your own!
