When Do You Wake Up During Summer Vacation?

When Do You Wake Up During Summer Vacation?

By Dan_Bergstein

Most of you are already enjoying summer vacation, which means, above all else, you're enjoying more sleep. And no wonder! For ten months a year you must wake up at the crack of dawn and drag yourself to school; you deserve to sleep late during the warm months. But sleeping in too late speaks volumes about your personality. What does your wakeup time say about you?

If you wake up between...
4:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m.: You have an early-morning job, such as serving coffee, or you consistently think it's Christmas morning.

5:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.: You have an early-morning job that you don’t really care about. And/or you have a crush on the paper delivery person. (Hi Helen!)

6:00 a.m. – 6:30 a.m.: Your body still thinks school is in session. Not to worry, because by late August, your inner clock will finally realize it's summer. Then you can enjoy your new sleep pattern for three whole days before going back to school.

6:30 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.: You can't sleep because you're so excited about the prospect of sleeping in late.

7:00 a.m. – 7:15 a.m.: You're really running late for your early-morning job and overestimate your car's ability to travel 20 miles in four minutes.

7:15 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.: You're a morning person, and probably a jerk.

7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.:
You like to wake up during this time just to hog the shower right when your dad needs it, because the two of you are not seeing eye-to-eye on the whole "I'm mature enough for an iPhone" debate. This'll show him.

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.: You have a lot to do today and want to get an early start on things. People often refer to you as a "go-getter" and have many other names for you that they keep to themselves.

9:00 – 10:00 a.m.: This is a reasonable time to wake up during vacation. You're not getting up too early, and you're not wasting the day away in bed. If you don't have any work commitments, this is the hour you should be aiming for...

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.:
...But this is the waking hour that will make you feel even better. Besides, you can skip breakfast and float right on into brunch.

11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.:
You're a pro sleeper. You can still wake up during this time period without hearing too much grief from your folks. But for best results, tell them you've been awake for awhile, reading in bed or crafting a five-year plan for your future. (Parents dig that.)

11:30 a.m. – Noon: You are slowly creeping up on slacker territory. Get out of bed soon to avoid SparkNotes labeling you as lazy.

Noon – 12:30 p.m.:
You are lazy.

12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.:
You are very lazy, unless you have a late-afternoon job, such as anchoring the 5 o'clock news.

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.:
You must have had quite an interesting evening. But we won't ask for details.

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
: Now we want to know the details. Call us?

3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.:
Only acceptable if you work third shift at a restaurant or are employed as a crime fighter.

4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.:
Why even get up?

5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.: Many suspect you are a vampire or Mr. Hyde.

9:00 p.m. – Midnight:
You have the flu.

Midnight – 4:00 a.m.: Don't tell us why you wake up during this time period because if we don't know, then when the cops ask, we won't have to lie.

So, when do you wake up?
