Would You Cheat?

Would You Cheat?

(Cue ominous music!) Ok, so asking if you would cheat is a loaded question. I mean, I don't think anyone would openly say, "Yeah, I have no problem cheating on my S.O." It's the sort of unspeakable thing you'd never dream of doing until, suddenly, you're doing it. After all, love/lust can make you do crazy things. Even if you profess your love for your sweetie, that doesn't mean you're immune from the seductive gaze of another.

Now, I'm biased because I have been cheated on. So would I cheat on my current beau? Absolutely not. To be honest, discovering my ex's infidelity—through e-mail, no less!—was one of the most painful things I've ever had to deal with (except for that one time I got sun poisoning, but that’s neither here nor there). It crippled my trust in other people, especially my trust in potential love-interests. I know what it's like on the other side, so even if I were to run into some Hollywood mega-hottie, let's say Brad Pitt (Sorry, he's getting older, but hello! He is still so freakin cute!), and he were to ask me out, I would say no. Actually, I probably wouldn't be able to say anything. I'd probably just walk away, but you get my point. If I'm with someone, I am with them one hundred percent.

Open relationships are, of course, different, and I've known people who've had success with them and seem genuinely happy. They aren't the jealous type obvi, and people's definitions of what constitutes cheating are different. Some girls get snippety if their bf even talks to another girl, while others seem to be unfazed if their dude smooches a girl at a party. It’s a personal thing and it's the sort of issue that you have to hammer out with your current bf/gf. But simply saying that you won’t cheat doesn't make it true, as I've learned from experience. The possibility of cheating is just one of the risks of being vulnerable with someone, aka, being in a relationship.

So where is cheating on the 'no-no' scale for you? Nothing to worry about, or utter relationship ruiner?
