Going to Prom: And Other Stupid Ways to Get Suspended

Going to Prom: And Other Stupid Ways to Get Suspended

By Jeff_Alexander

Last week, an Ohio high school student was suspended for--wait for it--going to prom. Now, that principal sounds like the ultimate killjoy to us. But perhaps we're just not giving him enough credit. When you really think about it, there are plenty of actions which might seem innocent enough, but could actually have terrible consequences. So, dutifully, we at SparkNotes put our heads together to come up with a few. We advise you to make sure none of the following activities will get you in trouble at your own school:

Cheering for the opposing team. The guy who got suspended was going not to his own school's prom, but that of another school. Maybe what they objected to was his lack of school spirit. Just to be safe, you should probably be careful about not wandering into the wrong cheering section at the next big game.

Going to graduation. This is a solemn occasion, and nobody appreciates you showing up in that ridiculous outfit. If you must wear that stupid square hat, please do so in the privacy of your home.

Skipping class after being suspended. If it's this easy to get suspended, chances are it's going to happen to you. But don't use your suspension as an excuse to cut class. Look, just because you've been kicked out of school doesn't mean you aren't expected to show up. Don't make things worse for yourself. Oh, and when you do go, make sure no one sees you, because then you'll really be in deep doo-doo.

What's the worst reason you ever heard of for getting suspended? Let us know in the comments.
