FAIL, FML, WTF?
The news has been relatively grim recently (even for the news), with continuing economic turmoil, fears of a new global illness, and more competition for college admissions. At the same time, many of our most popular websites - which should be busy improving people’s moods - seem to focus on failure and misery. If we’re going to turn 2009 around, we’re going to need a positive attitude, and that means websites like these:
SUCCEED Blog: Covering things that turned out remarkably well, from Susan Boyle to that quiet kid from junior high who went on to widespread popularity and track & field stardom senior year.
AllofOurSpace: “A place for unconditional sharing”
This is why you have healthy body image: Those tofu skewers look delicious, don’t they?
TotallynotaMonster.com: The social network that takes a laid-back, no-pressure approach to the job market.
70ClearandSunny: Somewhere in the world right now, people are enjoying gorgeous weather. This site takes you there.
Everyoneyouknowisakoala: Like Facebook, but with lots of eucalyptus and tiny bears.
FaceMyLife: A blog where people discuss overcoming difficult situations with the power of positive thinking and an assertive attitude.
Wishful Thinking: Here, all of your childhood pets are still alive and well and it’s as if Jimmy Fallon never existed.
Garfield Minus Anguish: Free from the negative influences of Jon and Garfield, Odie is free to live his life without fear of judgment or persecution.
You Wake Up As A Magical Giant: Like Google’s “Street View,” but 40 feet above your neighborhood.
Would you use any of these? How would you brighten up the web?
